For that meeting I wouldn’t order pork for sure, maybe a chicken salad. Not to mean I have none.ĭinner with one person, who and what will you order? I have been blessed, and so I haven’t had time to focus on my disappointments. (Thinks hard) I believe I have been very fortunate in my life. What has been the greatest disappointment in life? A lot of my friends are sports fanatics so I’m always hanging with them to watch sports. Then I went to the States and developed my love for American football. In 1995, I went for the World Cup Rugby, in SA, I fell in love with Springboks. I have always been very active, since St Mary’s High School where I was the youngest student to represent the 1st 15 Rugby team. We meet for a carnivorous lunch at Intercon’s Makuti Bar on a sunny afternoon. At KTB, he was seconded to the National Social and Economic Council secretariat as the team leader for the development of Kenya’s Vision 2030 economic plan. He has worked for Coca-Cola, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), Serena Hotels and now the Intercontinental Hotels Group. His sales and marketing experience spans from detergents, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, banking products, fried chicken, automobiles and the tourism sector. Michael has spent the last 20 years working across Africa, covering up to 40 countries in various capacities. If you haven’t, then you might have heard of his reputation, which doesn’t dabble in the grey area you either like him, or you don’t. If you are in the hospitality industry chances are you’ve heard of Michael Opondo.
